In the practice of intercultural communication

Metaphors are used to make the expressions more vividly. However

the inherent meanings of Chinese metaphors are not always the same with those in English due to cultural differences

which result in the different acceptability of Chinese metaphors in the west English-speaking world. By transplanting or naturalizing the metaphors into the equivalent culture of the western world

the acceptability of Chinese metaphors can be enhanced

and ensure the intercultural communication’s smooth process.
