Abstract
A coursebook connects syllabus
teaching and learning practices
and testing. Adopting recent theories and principles in extensive reading
this paper evaluates a newly developed extensive reading coursebook widely used for non-English major college students in China
hoping to reveal the current theories and principles guiding college English extensive reading teaching in China
and the extent they are operationalized and are compatible with the modern theories and principles. Based on such evaluation
strengths and weaknesses of the book are discussed
and suggestions are made for its further improvement.
