摘要

Abstract

Dramatic interaction based on Vygotsky’s ideas

not only provides a wide range of artifacts as the mediated tools for the learners

but also manifests as interand intra-personal collision

conflict

contradiction and crisis in a struggle towards self-transformation. This paper argues that the dramatic interactions in the event of Drama Night (a drama contest participated by English majored students from a Chinese university)

have the potential to encourage collective ZDP opportunities among the participants that can extend the learners’ understanding alike and facilitate their deeper learning of English as a second language.
