Abstract

Background With billions of cases worldwide

hypertension is a chronic illness that greatly raises the risk of cardiovascular illnesses. Dietary interventions are considered an important non-pharmacological approach for managing hypertension. Objective The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of dietary interventions in the prevention and management of hypertension

including a comparative evaluation of various dietary patterns for blood pressure reduction and their application across diverse populations. Methods An extensive literature review and analysis of existing research data were conducted to evaluate the influence of dietary changes on the quality of life and cardiovascular health in hypertensive patients. The effectiveness of dietary therapies high in potassium

calcium

and magnesium

such as the Mediterranean diet

the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet

and a modified form of Chinese diet

is especially investigated in this study. Results The results show that dietary patterns

especially those high in potassium

calcium

and magnesium

have a significant impact on lowering blood pressure and improving cardiovascular health. Both the DASH diet and the Mediterranean diet demonstrated strong efficacy in controlling hypertension

with the adapted traditional Chinese diet also showing promising results. The study further suggests that personalized dietary interventions can offer enhanced benefits for hypertension management across diverse populations. Conclusion The findings underscore the significance of dietary changes in controlling hypertension and enhancing cardiovascular health. This study offers insight for public health policymakers in the creation of evidence-based strategies for the prevention and management of hypertension and provides a theoretical basis for future research on customized dietary interventions.
