Objective

To explore the clinical application effect of bundled nursing model in chest percussion and sputum clearance in critically ill patients

and to provide practical evidence for standardizing airway management and reducing the risk of pulmonary complications in critically ill patients.

Methods

Ninety critically ill bedridden patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of our hospital from January 2024 to June 2025 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group

with 45 patients in each group. The control group received routine chest percussion and sputum clearance nursing in the ICU

while the observation group received a specific bundled nursing plan for chest percussion and sputum clearance. The sputum clearance effect

blood gas parameters

and incidence of pulmonary infection were compared between the two groups.

The total effective rate of sputum clearance in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group

the incidence of pulmonary infection was lower

and the blood gas analysis parameters

ICU length of stay

and nursing satisfaction were all better in the observation group than in the control group. The differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).

Bundled nursing can standardize the entire process of chest percussion and sputum clearance in critically ill patients

significantly improve the sputum clearance effect

improve the airway ventilation status of patients

and reduce the risk of pulmonary infection. It has high promotion value in critical care airway nursing.
