Translating Chinese classics into foreign languages helps Chinese culture to go abroad and promotes language education

but it is not easy for Chinese and foreign translators to achieve that goal. A Seven-Pace Poem is a poem written by Cao Zhi

whose poetry style

greatly revered during the Jin Dynasty and Southern and Northern Dynasties

came to be known as the Jian’an style. Xu Yuanchong makes a remarkable contribution to Chinese poetry translation. He proposes “Three Beauties Principle”: beauty in sense

beauty in sound and beauty in form

which plays an important role in poetry translation. It indicates that all the three aspects should be reproduces as much as possible. This thesis analyzes five translations by Xu Yuanchong

Zeng Chongming

Wang Rongpei

Qin Dachuan and Giles

and makes a parallel text analysis from the perspectives of “Three Beauties Principle”. Finally

under the guidance of “Three Beauties Principle”

this paper discusses the translation and its value of A Seven-Pace Poem

and discusses the learning strategies of poetry translation from the perspective of deep education and deep approach.
