Abstract

In the context of a burgeoning digital economy

examining the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) output on firms' entrepreneurial orientation is of significant practical importance. Using panel data from Chinese A-share listed companies from 2011 to 2022 and estimating two-way fixed-effects models

this study empirically tests the effect and underlying mechanisms of AI (measured by Allpatents) on entrepreneurial orientation. The results indicate that (1) AI significantly enhances firms' entrepreneurial orientation

and this finding remains robust after excluding outliers and applying winsorization; and (2) both regional openness and industrial upgrading positively moderate the effect of AI on entrepreneurial orientation through technology spillovers and optimized factor allocation. These findings offer empirical guidance for firms optimizing their AI deployment and for policymakers crafting innovation-driven strategies

while also extending entrepreneurial orientation theory to the digital technology context.
