With the development and application of quality-oriented education

it has become the main way of English teaching in contemporary China to a large extent. At the same time

the academic circle has not paid enough attention to and studied the transformation from exam-oriented education to quality-oriented education. Using the methods of literature and interview

this paper studies the process of Chinese college students' English teaching from exam-oriented education to quality-oriented education. On this basis

combined with the modern critical education theory

this paper discusses how to carry out the reform of English teaching according to the actual needs of China in the process of this transformation. According to the research

the respondents believe that the penetration rate of quality education in English is low

and the degree of education mode transformation is low. However

the interviewees are hopeful and positive about the integration of critical pedagogy into the transformation. At the end of the article

some suggestions and prospects of critical pedagogy in the transition from exam-oriented to quality-oriented education are made.
