摘要

Abstract

This article intends to clarify main issues on the instruction of reading comprehension in EFL class in Chinese context. Lack of instruction on reading methods and strategies as well as the ignorance of students' critical thinking ability leads to the extremely emphasis on word recognition

analysis of sentence structure and grammatical rules. Research about teaching method of reading comprehension has conducted for decades. Two opposite directions of information processing (top-down and bottom-up) attract outstanding attention from researchers and EFL teachers. Research shows that both of two directions are needed in process of reading to expand linguistic knowledge

and enhance meta-cognitive ability in reading comprehension. Therefore

the implementation of this interactive model in EFL reading class is worth exploring and practicing. This article presents a sample lesson plan for EFL teachers in Chinese context to implement the interactive mode in English reading class. By conducting this investigation

this article tries to make some contribution to the development of English instruction.
