摘要

Abstract

Metaphor has a long history in the Chinese language

appearing as early as in the Book of Songs. In Chinese culture

metaphor is both a rhetorical technique and a way of thinking

reflecting the uniqueness of Chinese culture. Therefore

studying the phenomenon of metaphor in Chinese culture has important theoretical and practical significance. The "First Birthday" is one of the traditional Chinese children's ceremonies

which is rich in profound cultural connotations. This paper analyses the metaphorical phenomena of Chinese culture contained in the "First Birthday" by studying the contents and phenomena of the rite of passage

so as to analyse the significance of these metaphorical phenomena to Chinese culture.
