this paper will analyze its communication strategy based on Lasswell's 5W Communication Model that include five aspects: main body

and effect. Additionally

a new addition of communication motivation will be analyzed to further understand its communication strategy. "Guardian Jiefang West" is the most-watched series among Bilibili's self-made documentaries

consisting of four seasons. However

for the purpose of this analysis

only the third season

which has the highest number of streams

will be analyzed. This documentary is a police documentary program that delves into the profound topics of emotions

while also showcasing innovative shooting and editing techniques that make it highly engaging. However

this documentary also has its shortcomings

such as under spread and incomplete case result. The aim of this paper is to study the popular documentaries on Bilibili

identify the reasons for their success

and provide suggestions for the future development of this platform or other similar platforms.
