In many developed countries

smart cities are mainly used for people-friendly services

for example to solve urbanisation problems. IBM in the USA launched the Smart City concept in 2009

while Smart City in China was the first to develop corresponding urban plans for cities such as Shanghai and Nanjing in 2011. After several years of development in China

smart city building has become a strategic approach and some of the results have been applied in practice. Shanghai's "One Network

One Office" and Shenzhen's "iShenzhen" are some of the better-known smart city constructions. Through the application of the Internet of Things and cloud computing

urban facilities are equipped with the functions of sensing

computing

storage

and execution. At present

China's economic and social development has encountered some new "bottlenecks"

transportation

electricity

health care

education

public services

social governance

and other issues are increasingly serious. The "smart city" is based on sensory network technology and Internet of Things technology to improve public services and responsiveness of cities through sound

transparent and adequate information access

extensive and secure information exchange

and effective use of information. Through Hadoop big data technology

data is efficiently stored and calculated

and data is analyzed and counted through HIVE. Combining neural network and big data technology

the terminal is made intelligent through machine learning. Data is stored through blockchain to prevent data tampering for supervision

thus realising a truly smart city. This article summarizes the definition and connotation of smart city

explains the development history and implementation status of smart city

and hopes to provide a new thinking on urban development and public construction of "humanity-technology-environment".
