摘要

Abstract

The importance of motivation in English learning is self-evident. It is not only the intrinsic motivation that drives learners to continuously engage in learning activities

but also one of the key factors affecting learning outcomes. Currently

students of vocational college are not optimistic about their motivation in English learning

showing negative and passive behaviors in their studies. Therefore

this paper focuses on analyzing the effects of motivation on learners' learning efficiency and language acquisition. The author presents Gardner's social psychology framework

integrative and instrumental motivation

goal theories and expectancy-value theories as foundation. Based on the review findings

the author come up with pedagogical implications that can be applied in Chinese educational context. Teachers should constantly stimulate students' interest in learning English during the teaching process

guide students to gradually transform their interest in learning English into a stable motivation

build their confidence

and thus enhance the effectiveness of English learning.
