The pandemic has shifted the overall macroeconomic landscape of various businesses and industries. However

not all industries were negatively impacted by this current crisis. Businesses that offer online services and conduct e-commerce successfully grabbed the opportunity and grew even larger and earned more market share. Indeed

the food delivery industry can serve as the most representative example. Meituan and Grubhub are both competitive market players in the food delivery industry

so I chose to compare the different performances and development trends between China and the U.S. markets. I targeted to analyze investment sentiments regarding the two stocks. The statistics confirmed that this market is continuously growing even before COVID-19. According to research

the global online food delivery market size was estimated at $10.744 billion US dollars in 2019 and the market size was projected to grow at a CAGR of 15.4% to 2025. The growth of technology and the popularity of the internet brings more customers. Especially the large young

white-collar population forms most of the consumer base. Moreover

the pandemic pushed people to heavily rely on these integrated food delivery platforms. From both perspectives that technology develops the trend of transition in lifestyle and the ongoing pandemic pushes people to use

the market will thrive which provides a solid foundation for the optimistic performance of all market participants.
