摘要

Abstract

Shengxian

is selected from the fourteenth volume of Feng Menglong's

Stories to Awaken Men

rarely seen in English translation. In 2006

Han translated

Stories to Awaken Men

into its English version

Falling in Love: stories from Ming China

among which the first five chapters are from A

Stories to Awaken Men.

It had an important impact on English readers and researchers. By examining the translated text

this paper discusses how Han Nan's translation shapes the special cultural identity

and studies the reproduction of the original style. Besides

we need to explore how to reproduce the foreign culture

shape the native subject and domesticate the cultural translation with Venuti's strategy of foreignization and domestication. Moreover

Han Nan's alienation strategy has an important methodological enlightenment for "Chinese culture goes global"

especially for the translation practice of Ming and Qing novels.
