摘要

Abstract

Mulan is a female hero in ancient China. The story of her disguising herself as a male soldier to take her father’s place in the conscription army and defeating the invasion of the nation has spread for thousands of years. In 2020

the Walt Disney Company adapted and launched the live-action version of Mulan. In order to meet the western viewers’ imagination and aesthetic of oriental women and the recognition of their own culture

the film was filled with a series of misunderstandings of the local Chinese traditional culture

which greatly disappointed Chinese viewers. This paper classifies and analyzes a series of cross-texts of Mulan stories

and explores the conflict between two cultures reflected in the film Mulan by using Homi K. Bhabha’s third space theory.
