摘要

Abstract

Alice Walker profiles herself in her writings as apologist and chronicler for black women. With the lives of black women and sexism within society at large and within black society in particular

she has opted for an explicitly different black feminism

which she calls Womanism. In this paper

the author will analyze Alice Walker’s novel The Temple of My Familiar and concentrate mainly on the ways in which it could be labelled a “womanist” work. It will focus on the content and themes of the novel. After the analysis from her theory and practice

it is revealed that the novel indeed is the practical realization of Walker’s womanist theory.
