摘要

Abstract

The Summer Before the Dark

Doris Lessing examines the spiritual crisis of middle-aged women from a unique perspective

telling the story of a confused middle-class housewife who escapes from her current life and starts a quest to find herself

meticulously depicting the woman's inner confusion about life

love

marriage and self. Through Kate's process of pursuing her dreams and realizing her self-worth

Lessing exposes the tragic fate of women and nature

which is forced to be marginalized by the patriarchal system

and calls for the construction of a harmonious society. This study

from an innovative ecofeminist perspective

enriches the academic research on Lessing's works and provides a new theoretical reference for understanding the relationship between women's liberation and ecological protection in modern society. Based on eco-feminism

this thesis analyzes

through Kate's journey of self-discovery

the confusion

helplessness and the significance of returning to her family and ultimate realization of rebuilding herself.
