Abstract

In this research

we present an overview of an undergraduate online module of mutual funds that we implemented in the Chaoxing teaching platform during COVID-19. This module was developed for emergency management but it was also conceived as an improvement to the face-to-face modules. The primary aim of this module was to build up a learning community where both lecturers and students can use a virtual space to share knowledge through different types of supervised activities

including votes

contests

chats and forums. Investigation shows that more regular users of Chaoxing usually obtained higher scores in their final exam. Further tests highlight that students in the Chaoxing-assisted learning environment could achieve a better academic performance than those who were taught by the traditional model. Our findings therefore suggest potential use of new technologies in conventional finance teaching.
