With real-time capability

ubiquity

accuracy

and generation of diverse scenarios for oral practice

Artificial Intelligence technologies

such as voice recognition

big data

and large language models

have brought entirely new experiences and epoch-making changes in various aspects of university oral English teaching

including course design

autonomous learning

in-class and off-class communication and interaction

evaluation and feedback. This paper briefly describes the concept of Artificial Intelligence and the theoretical bases for its application in oral English teaching

and explores the advantages and approaches of its application in university oral English teaching in terms of practice

interaction and evaluation.
