Abstract

This work explores the growing threat posed by AI-generated misinformation to the credibility of news media. With the increasing sophistication of AI tools

the creation and rapid spread of false information have become significant challenges for both journalists and the public. AI-driven misinformation

including deepfakes and automated content from bots

undermines trust in legitimate news sources by amplifying misleading narratives. This study examines how AI is utilized to generate and distribute misinformation

the global scale of its reach

and real-world examples of its impact on news dissemination. It also discusses current efforts to combat AI misinformation and proposes strategies to enhance news credibility through technological

educational

and collaborative approaches. The findings emphasize the urgent need for a multi-faceted response to safeguard the integrity of news in the digital era.
